Dirt Cake

Makes 2 flowerpots (depending on pot size)


Ingrediants:

GOOPY LAYER:
1/4 cup 60 mL butter
1/2 cup 125 mL white sugar
1 1 250g package cream cheese
2 2 4-serving packages of chocolate instant pudding
3 1/2 cups 875 mL milk
2 cups 500 mL whipping creme
DRY LAYER:
1 cup 250 mL ground almonds
2 1/4 cups 560 mL Oreo cookie crumbs (1 350g package crushed)
1 pkg 1 pkg gummy worms (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Whip the whipping creme.
  2. Mix up the instant pudding poweder and the milk. This should make instant pudding.
  3. Mix the instant pudding and whipping creme together.
  4. Soften the butter.
  5. Beat butter, sugar, and creme cheese until smooth. Beat these seperately from the whipped creme-pudding mixture.
  6. Mix the puddig mixture with the creme cheeese mixture. Do not mix them too much, or you will collapse the whipped creme.
  7. Seperately, mix the Oreo cookie crumbs, ground almonds, and gummy worms. Save a bit of the Oreo cookie crumbs from the top.
  8. Layer the mixtures in a clean flowerpot. I would strongly suggest using plastic flowerpot that has never had dirt in it. Add as many layers as fit nicely, although there should be a dry layer on the bottom and top. A sample layering would be:

    Pure oreo cookie crumbs
    Dry layer
    Goopy layer
    Dry layer
    Goopy layer
    Dry layer
    Goopy layer
    Dry layer
    Flowerpot Bottom

  9. Stick some fake flowers in the pot.
  10. Use the dirt cake a centerpeace on your table during the meal. Then, serve it for dessert. This is especially effectuve with kids.
