Icing


Makes enough for 1 cake

Ingredients:

BASIC:
1/4 cup 60 mL butter
1/4 cup 60 mL milk
3 cups 750 mL icing sugar
FLAVORS:
3 tsp 15 mL vanilla extract
3 tsp 15 mL maple extract
1 tsp 5 mL coconut extract
1 tsp 5 mL almond extract
1/4 tsp 1 mL orange extract

Note: Only use one flavor (or reduce the amounts porportionately). The quantities listed here reflect their relative strengths.

Instructions:

  1. Soften the butter in the microwave for about 30 seconds. If it melts a bit, that is not problem.
  2. Add the milk and flavor to the butter and mix them together with the beaters.
  3. Add the rest of the icing sugar a bit at a time. After adding each portion, beat it until the icing sugar is all absorbed. If you add too much loose icing sugar at once, it will fly around and make a mess.
